General Info Please include a current, fully approved colour proof of your document clearly indicating all relevant information. Include a printout of files on the disk, document name(s) to be printed, & percentage scaling. Artcraft cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged files. Please keep a back-up copy. Archiving services are also available if you would like us to keep your files in our system. Media Files under 10 mb may be e-mailed to mac@artcrft.com Larger files can be uploaded to our FTP site (call for info) or sent on CD, DVD or portable hard drive. Legacy transfer media may also be supported, call to confirm type and format. Applications Supported Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and QuarkXPress for Mac are fully supported. Most graphics software has the ability to embed colour profiles. If these profiles are not turned off, colours will be inconsistent. CorelDraw & AutoCad are not fully supported by high-end Postscript devices. Please call for more information on exporting files. Extra costs will be incurred if files have to be repaired. Vector blends may band and are difficult to colour correct. Proof prints may be ordered. No BMP, JPEG(JPG), GIF or LZW-compressed files please. Resolution Requirements Resolution of scanned images at final output size should be not less than: Prints at 1400 dpi- scanned image at 300 ppi (approx. 60 mb per sq. ft.) Prints at 700 dpi- scanned image at 150 ppi (approx. 13 mb per sq. ft.) Artcraft cannot accept responsibility for client supplied scans if colour correction and proof prints have not been requested. Additional charges apply for colour matching, correction and proofing. Artcraft offers high-resolution drum scanning for best results at any output size. Page Set-up Please state percentage of enlargement and final print size. Note: Application generated crop marks are not supported. Crop marks need to be drawn in. If using a bleed, extend the image to bleed beyond the trim size. All images, crop marks and bleed must be within the page dimensions. Document should be in same proportion as the final enlargement required. Linking files is better than embedding them. Ensure that all links are included and up to date. Fonts All screen and printer fonts used in your layout must be included on the disk. Multiple Master and TrueType fonts are NOT supported. PC fonts must be converted to outline before printing. Please check for “phantom” fonts left behind during the creation process. Masks Areas masked by white boxes (including software masks) are still visible to the RIP software and are processed as white areas of image. The printer then uses that much material, which must be accounted for in our pricing. If the masked area exceeds the allowable print area, the file won’t print at all. Oversize images must be cropped in Photoshop before placing them. Colour View files with ink settings at 30% SWOP coated. Colours vary widely from monitor to monitor and from printing device to printing device. If you are fussy about exact colours, please ask to purchase a press proof. All scanned images must be in CMYK. Spot colours are to be in CMYK or Pantone (but not both in one file). |
